  • Packing is the longest phase of the move.
  • The better the pack the faster the move.
  • Decide what to pack and what not to pack (throw away, give away, garage sell…)
  • Packing should be completed before Move-Intuit arrive.
  • Are you going to blanket and or wrap the furniture (protection) or will Move-Intuit do it?
  • Standard sizes
  • Medium boxes for heavier items (books, kitchen items, etc).
  • Large boxes for lighter items (clothes, towels, bedding, etc).
  • Wardrobe boxes for hanging clothes, pillows, etc. Wardrobe boxes cannot handle the weight.
  • Boxes should be able to be closed/sealed for stacking.
  • Tape the bottom of the boxes well.
  • Do not exceed 50lbs per box.
  • Label every box with the room it belongs in and if fragile.
  • Do not have spaces or gaps inside boxes. The box may collapse or items inside may break.
  • Do not mix rooms in the same box
  • Keep similar boxes together
  • Kitchen
  • Use plenty of packing paper / bubble wrap
  • Wrap each dish, cup, and glass separately in packing paper / bubble wrap.
  • Place packing paper over items in the box before closing the box.
  • Large boxes for bulky lightweight items.
  • Heavy-duty boxes for glassware and fragile items.
  • Medium boxes for dishes, pots, etc..
  • Empty refrigerator/freezer.

  • Disassemble Bed. Place Hardware in a labeled baggie.

  • Move all wall-mounted items to a single area.
  • Save all hardware in individually labeled baggies.

Label what the rug is with tape after rolling.

  • Walk the entire move with Move-Intuit foreman.
  • Discuss what items are to be wrapped, blanketed and wrapped, not moved, or items requiring special care if any.
  • Note any items to be first off of the truck if any.
  • Note any item that has to be broken down / disassembled.
  • Move-Intuit to note any visible damage to items to be moved or walls/floors from the location being moved from.
  • Will Move-Intuit unpack at the destination? This will take as long as the pack.
  • Discuss what about blanketed items. How will Move-Intuit get the blankets back?
  • If there is more than one destination (storage unit or two destinations) identify what items are going to each destination
  • If the destination location is smaller than starting location discuss how everything will fit at the destination.
  • Move-Intuit to walk destination location to confirm where items are to be moved to prior to unloading.
  • Move-Intuit to note any damage to walls/floors of the destination location.
